Bad to the (TriPawd) Boone

Our unexpected journey with our bad dog bundle

Bad to the (TriPawd) Boone

Life goes on…without Boone

April 22nd, 2017 · 14 Comments · Uncategorized

Most everyone knows that Boone lost his fight with cancer and crossed the Bridge on Tuesday, March 14th. We weren’t at all ready to say goodbye to this special soul, but he let us know he was ready and it would have been selfish and unfair to him to “try one more thing…”

The first week was almost unbearable for us. Boone had such a big personality and his loss left a hole much bigger than we anticipated. I’ve had dogs my whole life, and I’ve said goodbye to a lot of dogs over the years, but saying goodbye to Boone was absolutely the hardest. Who would have thought that of all of our dogs, this tall, silly happy boy would be the one to completely steal our hearts. But he did.

This video popped up as a memory on my Facebook timeline from April 15th, 2016 and the tears started flowing again. Boone LOVED springtime when the snow was gone so he could return to “rock retrieving.”

Ah spring. And the return of rock retrieving.

But I know Boone is watching over us.

Two weeks after he crossed the Bridge, he sent us a little foster dog that we named Tuck. We had no intentions of bringing another dog into our lives so soon, but this little guy appeared at our local rescue needing an urgent foster. We couldn’t say no.

And the following week, Tuck had completely won us over. We were officially “foster failures.”

Tuck does seem to have some “Bad Dog Bundle” characteristics, but he’s totally different than Boone. And that’s a good thing. Boone was special. Unique. And no dog will ever take his place.

I was watching a show the other night, and one of the characters was talking about how life goes on after someone you love dies.

She said “Life goes on. It’s not wrong, just different.”

So our different life, without Boone, goes on.

Tuck is precious, and I agree, it’s not wrong to go on, just different. Have had many a pet I loved and still miss but doesn’t make the new ones any less special. Did not know Boone’s story until now but he looks like he was a happy fellow with a real love of life. Thanks for sharing.

Boone was the happiest boy. He lived every day to the fullest and never failed to give us a tail wag and a smile ☺

Welcome Tuck! So glad that Boone sent him to you and you were able to embrace the different but wonderful life you will have with him.

Sometimes our Angels bring us someone to help heal the hurt. It doesn’t take it away and the hole is there but they know it will help. You are right about our lives going on but just different. Our journey was like no other and we loved them and cared for them the best we could.
I know you will love Tuck and take care of him like Boone would have wanted. You never know Boone might show him the rock harvesting like he used to do

I’m certain Boone had a paw in this. Tuck has quickly taken up the challenge of my walking buddy. I’ve had to adjust my pace, as Tuck is a little closer to the ground than Boone was. My friend who we walk with on the weekends joked that she used to have to cheer her older Lab on to keep up with Boone and me. And now it’s more of a casual pace 😉.

So, yes, it’s a different life now. But I’m sure Boone is smiling his happy smile from the Bridge 🌈

Your Boone will always hold a special place in your heart. But you may find that your heart will expand enough to make room for Tuck. I wish you all the best.

Boone definitely has his own special spot in our hearts. And I love how you say our hearts will expand, I think they are 💕🐾

Ohhhh what a sweet treasure of Boone. The joy and happiness in that yard romp was so fun to watch. Thank you for sharing.

I love that quote about “not wrong, just different.” Once your heart and head can wrap themselves around that, wonderful things start coming your way once again. Like Tuck and all the special signs that I’m sure Boone is leaving you every day, and always will.

Boone was a treasure. Every day I feel our hearts heal a little more and little Tuck is part of that healing.

Thank you for all of the support and encouragement 💕😊

I love how Boone, with his really long legs, looks like a foal jumping around!
It’s so strange how in a matter of not even a year so much heartbreak and change can come about. Boone is the type of dog I would have loved to meet and I know how it feels when an animal touches your soul like that. Sending you Tuck was the most considerate thing he could have done and please keep us updated on all of Tuck’s (mis-)adventures.
I told Manni all about you and his ‘big brother’ and he has now been keeping vigilant watch for moose in his garden.
please don’t leave here, we are your friends.
    hugs

Oh, thank you so much for the kind comments, Tina. Yes, what a (sad) difference a year makes.

You and Manni would have loved Boone. He was so happy and full of life. I’m glad Manni is keeping watch for moose now. 😊

This community is incredible. I feel so much love and support every time I share. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I’ll keep you posted on Tuck’s adventures, and maybe even share a little more about our sweet Boone 🌈💕🐾

Hugs to you and Manni, too!

Such a treasured video!!! That Boone sure is a one-of-a-kind doggy!! 🙂 These are the memories that matter…these are what Boone wants you to remeber! This is such a glorious reminder of how BLISSFULLY HAPPY Boone was with you! 🙂 🙂

Yes, Boone’s earth kife has transcended to another dimension in a other form. Yes, your life goes on here on earth……..and Boone made sure it would be very, very different by sending you Tuck!! 🙂

I love hearing about this spunky fella’ Boone se t you. Boone knows that your heart is so full of love it would be cruel…yes, cruel….to keep that love from getting to shine again in a dog who needed to be loved. And Boone wants you to feel joy and to experience laughter again in his ho kr. And he se t Tuck to help you do just that!

Do keep these tributes of Boone coming so we can continue to celebrate his Bad to da Tripawd Boone ways!

And we MUST follow Tuck on all his adventures as he learns whst it means to be @oved and xecure! 🙂 He really is an adorable boy with beautiful coloring.

    We’ll be waiting for more………..

    Lots of love

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Thank you, as always, Sally. Your comments brighten my days and encourage me.

Tuck is starting to figure things out – I’m sure Boone sent him here with a lesson plan ;-). I’m showing him all of Boone’s favorite walking paths, he gets hugs from little Audrey at least once a week, and he knows how to gut a stuffy like a pro.

      More to come, I’m sure!

Biggest of hugs to you and your crew 🙂
